What a day...
Today was so great! The main reason is because I got to teach all day. My coaching teacher was not feeling well when she got to school today, so we had a sub come in and she told the sub to let me teach and do it all. This was so great! But man, oh man, I am exhausted tonight. I really enjoyed the whole day and I loved using my teachers lesson plans and making them my own today. I got the feel of how full day goes, which was great practice for my full-time teaching at the end of October. My children were not that great today, but I tried to stay calm and in control all day- and I must say that I did a pretty good job. At the end of the day I felt really accomplished and proud of myself and how far I came today. Needless to say, I was ready to just crash when I got home..but it was a good tired that I could easily get use to. I think my favorite part of the day was this afternoon when I taught math and social studies. In math we did a hands- on standards lesson about patterns and my class did a great job and they really got into the lesson. They were excited to make their own patterns as well as to label the patterns that I would make up on the overhead projector. Then in social studies we are starting a unit on the Native American Indians. I did some research before the lesson while the children were in related arts and they loved the pictures of the different types of shelters that I was able to show them on the smart board for the different Indian tribes we are talking about. I was so excited about how well I thought I did. I can't wait to tell my coaching all about it tomorrow. I just wish my class was able to control themselves a little better than they did today. If they are still struggling to respect me as a teacher when I do my full- time teaching in October, it will make those 2 weeks very long and difficult. I am holding high hopes for much improvement by then. All in all, today was wonderful and I am so glad that I have been able to find something to do for the rest of my life that I love so much and am so passionate about.
