The best last day EVER!

This is definitely delayed, but I have been on the go since Friday AKA the best last day EVER! (That's what Leslee and I called it all day!) Now, for the play by play...
The morning started off with arriving at school and getting a DELICIOUS homemade breakfast by one of the teachers. She made us these AWESOME sausage grits and biscuits. Since Leslee and I had been kicked out of our rooms for about an hour, we sat in the lounge and ate good food and shared in wonderful conversations with the other staff on our hall. It was so nice! We also, in this time, went to give the principal her card and gift. All the interns got together and we found her in the hallway. She was so overwhelmed that she almost cried. She told us that we were the best interns ever and how much she loved having us and our enthusiasm, etc. It was very nice. When our hour of wandering was over we went back to our rooms and my coaching teacher told me to come sit in our special chair. I sat down and all the children were on the carpet and they had each written me a note. The cards were so sweet. They said things like, "please don't leave", "can you stay one day longer?" and " You're the best teacher ever." I cried like a baby because I was so sad about missing them and leaving them behind. We had been through so much together this year and they had become my own children pretty much.
Moving on... After this we had the fire department come and give a fire safety presentation (it was career day after all). The children loved this! It was very entertaining and informative! Then we watched a few videos about different careers on the smart board, went to lunch recess and PE and then straight outside to see the police department. The guidance counselor had the Columbia Police Department K-9 unit and the mounted unit come out to the school. The children could pet the horse and watch the dogs do tricks. They loved it. We had about 45 minutes left before dismissal and so it was Party time! I had made goody bags with pencils, erasers, and activity books for each child with an individual cards, brownies and Hi-C juice boxes. They loved the gesture and wrote me card back that said thank you and such. They also drew me pictures and other notes to take with me. Before we knew it, it was time to go home. They each gave me a hug good bye and we went our separate ways.
This was defiantly the best last day ever because it was a play day. We didn't have any instruction and the children got to have some fun with me!
I will not be able to stay away for to long, I will defiantly be going back sooner than later!
